Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is a great pleasure and privilege to host the “International Symposium on
Regenerative Neuroscience and Annual meeting of Society for Neurochemistry
(India)” from 17th-18th January, 2008 at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro
Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India, under the auspicious of SNCI, Asia Pacific
Society for Neurochemistry (APSN) and International Society for Neurochemistry
(ISN). NIMHANS, a premier multispeciality neuroscience hospital, has been actively
engaged in clinical services, research and teaching over several decades and is an
ideal place to host this International Symposium.
We consider it a distinct honor to host this meeting
in the garden city of India, Bangalore. Bangalore is an enchanting city in which
the old world charm of its cultural heritage blends with the excitement of a technological
boom. Dotted with lakes and parks, blessed with a salubrious climate, this city
with its tolerant cosmopolitan population has become a hub of scientific, technological,
industrial and educational activities. We welcome you to experience the magic of
Bangalore.
We are happy to bring out the first circular, which includes
information regarding pre-conference workshop and details of International symposium.
We are delighted to invite you to this international symposium with a central theme
of “Regenerative Neuroscience” which encompasses recent advances in neurosciences
from molecular to behavioral level to cellular basis of brain functions and disorders.
The conference will discuss various protective and therapeutic strategies for brain
disorders, and examine how both the progression of neurodegenerative processes and
their potential amelioration may be influenced by a variety of factors. A special
focus of this conference will be on research findings involving both natural products
and pharmacological strategies for slowing of neurodegeneration in neurodegenerative
disorders. The goal of this meeting is to bring together a critical mass of scientists
who might not otherwise have the opportunity to discuss key issues. The setting
will be in a scientific but relaxed atmosphere, with the expectation that new concepts
concerning neurodegenerative disease and its mitigation will emerge.
Many leading neuroscientists from India and abroad have
agreed to participate and deliver lectures during the conference. Consequently,
this will provide a forum for researchers to present frontline research in the interdisciplinary
areas of neuroscience, interact with participants, share views and experiences,
and plan future strategies to understand the complexities of brain functions and
disorders. The society has instituted two awards for the excellent presentations
made by the young aspiring neuroscientists.
On this occasion, we are delighted to extend a cordial
invitation and warm welcome to you in Bangalore. We sincerely hope that you will
accept our invitation and make an important contribution to the scientific program
by your deliberation and discussion. We look forward to your cooperation and active
participation in the exciting meeting.
